Under the leadership of Akvilė Bosaitė and managing partner Irmantas Norkus, Cobalt attracts high-profile banking, debt and equity mandates, and fund formation and investment work. Notably, it advised East West Agro on an IPO, where new shares were offered to investors in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Elijus Burgis and Eva Suduiko are other core members of the group.

Ellex offers an outstanding breadth of expertise across banking, capital markets and funds. The group advised the EIB on the €50m financing of the Vilnius urban infrastructure project and advised a consortium of international banks on the issuance of €450m of notes under the government’s EMTN programme; the issue was consolidated to form 20-year eurobonds. Gediminas Rečiūnas, Joana Baublytė-Kulviete, Ausra Brazauskiene and Laurynas Narvydas are now with newly established firm Law Firm WALLESS Burgienė, Rečiūnas and partners.

Sorainen is noted for its ‘commercial approach’ and ability to build good relationships with both companies and government agencies. Tomas Kontautas heads the banking and finance and insurance teams, and Augustas Klezys, who made partner in 2018, leads the financial services and insurance sector groups; the duo are supported by an experienced team of senior associates including Dalia Augaitė, and associate, Lina Ragainytė. In addition to traditional banking work and bond issuances, the group has a focus on innovative financial services; it advised Myriad Capital on an equity and debt-based crowdfunding platform.

TGS Baltic’s impressive range of clients includes new client wins Imlitex, EstateGuru and IBS Lithuania. It has sector-specific expertise in energy, infrastructure and aviation; team head Vilius Bernatonis acted for Lietuvos Energija and its subsidiary Vilniaus Kogeneracinė Jėgainė on securing €190m from the EIB for the greenfield construction of power plants. Vidmantas Drizga heads the capital markets and corporate departments and acted for listed company INVL Technology on its conversion to a special closed-ended investment company. Jūratė Kūgytė left the firm.

Eversheds Saladžius (a member of Eversheds Sutherland) advises corporates and major banks on financial transactions and the launch of financial products. Managing partner Jonas Saladžius and Tomas Rymeikis assisted Rietumu Bank with the provision of a multimillion-euro credit line to West Kredit.

At Glimstedt Bernotas & Partners, team head Linas Sesickas is advising a number of credit unions on reorganisations and recapitalisations following an investigation by the Bank of Lithuania. Andrius Ivanauskas and senior associate Audrius Žvybas advised Sports Direct on revising its financing pertaining to Sportland.

Primus, Attorneys at Law’s managing partner Robert Juodka is experienced in acquisition, project and real estate finance and regulations, especially in the insurance field. He advised ABLV Bank on syndicated financing for the development of a port terminal and also assisted a company within the Accor Hotels group with financing agreements for the development of a new Ibis hotel.

Baranauskas & Partners Hansa Law Offices is ‘widely respected in the Lithuanian banking sphere’ and is known for handling contentious banking and capital markets work. Vidas Vilkas is representing Snoras Bank (in liquidation) in a large number of disputes totalling around €10m. Dalius Baranauskas head the team.

Led by Gediminas Dominas, Dominas Derling handles work including bond issuances, acquisition and real estate finance, and international credit facilities, and acted for Reckit Benckiser Espana on cross-border factoring. Associate Naglis Mėlinis assists on work involving international banks.

With ‘a very high competence in the banking sector’, Ecovis ProventusLaw focuses on financial licences and regulatory work, especially in the fintech arena for domestic and international clients. Team head Inga Karulaitytė-Kvainauskienė advised deVere throughout the establishment of deVere E-Money. Kęstutis Kvainauskas is also a key practitioner.

Leadell Balčiūnas & Grajauskas counts banks and leasing companies among its clients and is advising a number of bankrupt credit unions. Gintaras Balčiūnas advised Achemos Grupė on the financing for the acquisition of the trading business and grain elevators network of Litagra Group and the latter’s Latvian subsidiary. Managing partner Marius Grajauskas and senior associate Kazimieras Karpickis are key team members.

Magnusson’s Kęstutis Baranauskas heads the practice and is advising Taupkasė credit union on its conversion into a bank. Marius Liatukas’s work includes handling disputes involving financial institutions. The team also advises on financing, refinancing and online lending.

PwC Legal’s Rokas Bukauskas and his team undertake financing and funds work. It acted for the Ministry of Finance on its negotiations with the EIB for the funding for the establishment of the Lithuanian leveraged fund. It also advises on consumer credit issues.

In addition to traditional banking and capital markets, TVINS has a growing reputation for advising on consumer credit and regulatory developments in alternative financing. Clients include the Lithuanian P2P and Crowdfunding Association. Vytautas Šenavičius ‘has an unrivalled understanding of the regulatory environment’; he and Tomas Talutis are, according to one client, ‘high-level specialists’.

Linas Sabaliauskas is the name to note at Triniti, which acts for lenders and borrowers. The group advises on omnibus financing agreements and credit facilities among other areas.
