Senior attorney Irina Kostina heads Ellex’s practice, which covers diverse mandates, including high-end work such as trade union negotiations and collective redundancies. Kostina and Daiga Zivtiņa assisted Teva Baltics/Sicor Biotech with transferring employees following the acquisition of Actavis Baltics. Other clients include Orkla and Coca-Cola HBC Latvia.

Eversheds Sutherland Bitans is representing Lattelecom in a dispute over termination and the interpretation of a service contract and also defended the company against a former employee that alleged differential treatment and other claims. Other clients include Swedbank and Samsung Electronics Baltics. Practice head Māris Logins and managing partner Agris Bitāns are names to note.

Sorainen’s team acted for Oberthur Technologies Latvia in a case against a former employee which centred on a non-compete clause. The department also represents Prisma Latvija, Novartis and Xerox. Clients appreciate the ‘hands-on approach’ of senior associate Andis Burkevics, who stands out along with practice head and managing partner Eva Berlaus.

Cobalt handles matters including HR advice, termination cases and immigration law. Practice head Toms Sulmanis and senior associate Kristine Patmalniece defended Coface against a former branch manager over a disputed termination. Other clients include Johnson & Johnson and Abbott Laboratories.

Primus, Attorneys at Law fields various ‘excellent individuals’, including Sintija Radionova and Laura Zalāna. The group assisted TAV İşletme Hizmetleri with launching its subsidiary TAV Latvia Operation Services, including advising on new hires, employment agreements, job descriptions and disciplinary regulations.

TGS Baltic’s practice head Andra Rubene has been assisting new client Marsh with reorganising its employment structure in order to outsource financial management and accounting functions. Rubene also assisted the client with centralising its functions globally. Other new clients include Sky, Sportland and Ipsen Pharma. The firm recruited counsel Dace Indāne from Law Firm Varul. Ivita Samlaja joined Deloitte Legal.

VilgertsJūlija Jerņeva recently advised Dayton on reorganisation, collective redundancies and transfer of undertakings following the acquisition of various businesses, and has been handling termination and boardmember issues. Merks and DataKom are also clients.

BDO Law has been representing Altum against former employees in proceedings related to collective agreements and payments following a business reorganisation. Managing partner Vita Liberte heads the practice. Dace Indāne joined TGS Baltic.

Kronbergs Cukste Derling has been acting on cross-border matters, including terminations and obtaining work permits. Practice head Valters Kronbergs and senior associate Normunds Orols are the key figures.

Leadell Fogels, Vitols & Paipa assisted Livorno Pharma with dismissing a boardmember and continues to advise the client on termination and hiring of employees. Māris Paipa and senior associate Jevgēnija Ziņģe are names to note.

The ‘very well-known’ team at Rödl & Partner handles work such as employment agreements, terminations and State Labour Inspectorate disputes. Sanda Straumane and associate partner Kristīne Zvejniece are key figures.
