ASAR – Al Ruwayeh & Partners is ‘efficient, attentive and always provides excellent service’. The practice provides ongoing advice to Adeptio, an investment vehicle owned by Dubai businessman Mohamed Alabbar, on its acquisitions in Kuwait. The ‘wise and very competent’ Sam Habbas leads the team.

DLA Piper Kuwait in Association with (NEN) Al-Wagayan, Al Awadhi and Al-Saif is experienced in acquisitions and joint ventures. Highlights included advising several airlines on their exit from Kuwait, as well as assisting power companies with establishing their operations in the country. Dubai-based Ben Gillespie, who joined the firm in January 2016 from Addleshaw Goddard, heads the regional practice; Terry O’Regan and Nader Al Awadhi are the names to note on the ground in Kuwait.

Al Markaz Law Firm’s corporate practice acted for Arabian Capital Investment and Finance on its sale of a 52% stake in the company, and assisted DAMAC with its entry into the Kuwait market. Other clients include The Investment Dar, Ogyana Real Estate Company and Al Hamra Real Estate. Fawwaz Abd-Allah Al Saeed and Ayman Nada head the corporate team, which includes senior associate Nazih Hameed, who is ‘considered and thoughtful in his approach’.

Al Tamimi & Company assists domestic and international companies with acquisitions and general corporate matters in Kuwait. The telecoms, aviation and manufacturing industries have been key areas for the group, which recently advised the Huneidi family on a sale of a minority stake in Gulf Cryo, a manufacturing distributor, to Mumtalakat Bahrain. Alex Saleh heads the team and is noted for his ‘solid commercial understanding’.

International Counsel Bureaualways provides a high level of service’. Highlights included advising EQUATE Petrochemical on its acquisition of MEGlobal. Abdul Rahman Al Haroun, who leads the team, is ‘an outstanding lawyer’.

At ALF – Al Osaimi Law Firm, the well-regarded Mohammed Al Noor acts for oil and gas companies on their operations in Kuwait.

Abdullah Kh. Al-Ayoub & Associates has a strong reputation in the telecoms sector – clients include the National Mobile Telecommunications Company and Ericsson – and regularly acts as local counsel on large-scale M&A. Managing partner Abdullah Kh. Al-Ayoub, senior associate Sameer Goel and associate Anju Menon are all names to note.

Managing partner Adel Abdulhadi heads the corporate team at Al Oula Law Firm (Adel Abdulhadi & Partners), which has been advising international and domestic companies on their operations in Kuwait. Clients include global telecoms companies, South Korean technology company CJ 4DPLEX Co and a number of Japanese investors.

The corporate practice at Menwer & Associates advises on a wide range of areas, but is best known for its work on public-private sector collaborations, particularly in the real estate sector. The group is continuing to advise The Public Institute for Social Security on the creation of a medical city in Kuwait. Other clients include Wafra Real Estate and Viva. Mohammad Menwer Al Mutairi leads the team, which includes Iftekar Hoque and Mohammad Mohammad.

Established in January 2015, Meysan Partners has developed a strong base of multinational energy companies, which it advises on their acquisitions and disposals. The firm also acts for financial services clients National Bank of Kuwait, the Kuwait Capital Markets Authority and The World Bank on corporate matters. Founding partners Bader El-Jeaan and Abdul Aziz Al Yaqout are the names to note.
