Ali Sharif Zu'bi Advocates & Legal Consultants acts for clients from the public and private sectors. It has been active in a number of major capital markets transactions and also has seen a steady increase in aviation-related transactions, including acquisitions and financings. Khaled Asfour has been advising JPMorgan and others as managers of a proposed $1bn Jordanian government Eurobond issuance.

Khaldoun Nazer heads the corporate and commercial practice at Khalifeh & Partners Lawyers, which handles a range of transactional, advisory and contentious matters. It is currently acting for the government in a number of sovereign bond issuances, including a $1.25bn Reg S/Rule 144A bond. Al Tamimi & Company’s commercial practice covers a wide range of areas, including licensing, franchising, real estate, construction and intellectual property. Clients include Eagle Hills, Baker Hughes and Jordan India Fertilizer Co. Team head Khaled Saqqaf has been involved in a number of acquisitions and led on the structuring of a security agency arrangement for National Bank of Kuwait. The local team is supported by the firm’s other offices across the Middle East.

The ‘outstanding team’ at Barghouti Bashir Khirfan Advocates has been involved in a range of corporate commercial work, including restructurings, contract drafting and negotiations, and commercial litigation. The firm is particularly active in the shipping industry, wherein its lawyers have been handling various high-profile disputes. Highlights included acting for Elite Way Marine Shipping in an ongoing effort to settle with Zhejian Huamao International over the $4.3m purchase of a vessel. Other work included handling a contractual dispute involving Islamic law. At Hammouri & Partners Attorneys At-Law, the ‘strength of the team goes beyond the strength of the partners’. It is best known for its litigation work, such as recently representing Marwan Al-Kurdi & Partners Co in an arbitration relating to non-performance of works in the construction of a dam. The firm assists clients from the banking and public sectors, as well as international corporations and private individuals. Managing partner Tariq Hammouri is recommended.

Osama Sukkari & Associates – Attorneys at Law shows ‘practical business sense’. Name partner Osama Sukkari heads the team, which recently handled various M&A transactions. One international client describes the firm as being ‘exceptionally valuable in negotiating foreign contracts’.

Rajai K.W. Dajani & Associates recently handled a number of construction disputes and advised on several M&A deals. The firm also assists clients with banking and finance matters, as well as restructuring transactions, and recently advised Arab Bank Switzerland on securitisations and lending. Safwan Moubaydeen Law Firm in association with Dentons advises on a range of regulatory, corporate and financing matters. Recent work includes acting for Mashreq Bank on a syndicated facility to Royal Jordanian Airlines. New client wins include SITA Jordan and Kibar Industry. Safwan Moubaydeen is the key contact.

Hashem Law Office advises clients on corporate matters, including M&A, refinancing and commercial litigation. It has recently worked with clients from the real estate, chemicals and energy sectors. Fadi Hashem heads the corporate practice.

Obeidat & Freihat is a well-respected name in the market, which handles a wide range of corporate and finance transactions, particularly in the IT and telecoms sectors. Managing partner Thamer Obeidat is a key name.
