Ali Sharif Zu'bi Advocates & Legal Consultants has a first-class reputation for corporate and commercial work, and its lawyers are held in high esteem throughout the market. The firm was involved in several premium mandates, and advised on the merger between International Petroleum Investment Company and Mubadala Development Company. Senior partner Sharif Ali Zu’bi is a leading figure in the market, as is corporate head Saleh Abdel Ati.

Nadim Kayyali and Lana Habash jointly head the expanding team at Sanad Law Group in Association with Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP. Clients include Microsoft, Cisco, Samsung and Standard Chartered Bank.

Al Tamimi & Company had a busy year helping several foreign investors enter the market. Recent highlights include acting for the buyer on a multimillion-dollar investment in Hijazi & Ghosheh Group Companies, a major meat production, distribution and shipping company. The firm also advised Credit Suisse on a $60m loan to a Jordanian company. Khaled Saqqaf is well regarded.

Barghouti Bashir Khirfan Advocates is a young firm making a strong impression on the market. The firm is ‘really good in terms of quick responses and excellent advice’. The ‘diligent’ Yazan Barghouti ‘knows what he is doing’, and Mohammed Bashir provides ‘excellent advice on IP issues’. A major highlight was advising Sama Jordan Food and Industrial Investments on the $141m sale of a 50% stake in the company. The team is also experienced in private equity, advising clients such as Black Pearl Investments. Hazem Khirfan is also noted.

Hammouri & Partners Attorneys At-Law provides ‘an outstanding level of service’ and its lawyers are ‘experts in their field’. While managing partner Tariq Hammouri stands out, ‘the whole team is extremely professional’ and, according to one client, is ‘one of the best that we have dealt with to date’. Major clients include Comedat Jordan, United Cable Industries Company and Gopa Consultants.

Rajai K.W. Dajani & Associates acts for a range of clients in the corporate sector, and has a particularly strong following in the banking and insurance industries. A major highlight was advising Arab Jordan Investment Bank on the acquisition of HSBC’s business in Jordan. Rajai Dajani is highly recommended.

Safwan Moubaydeen Law Firm in association with Dentonspossesses a deep knowledge of the laws’ and is a popular choice for international clients. Managing partner Safwan Moubaydeen divides his time between Jordan and Dentons’ Qatar office, but the firm has a strong stable of senior associates on the ground in Amman, including Saliba Sunna and Lara Saraireh. Clients include Gemalto, GlaxoSmithKline and Del Monte.

Hashem Law Office has an active commercial practice, regularly representing clients in the real estate, chemicals and energy sectors. Clients include LG Electronics and Sumitomo Corporation. Fadi Hashem heads the team.
