On 17 July 2012, La Générale des Carrières et des Mines SARL ("Gécamines"), a state-owned mining company based in the Democratic Republic of Congo ("DRC"), won its appeal to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in the long—running litigation brought against it by US distressed debt fund, FG Hemisphere Associates LLC ("FGH").
