Leading individuals

The ‘excellent and well-prepared’ four-fee-earner team at Andrékó Kinstellar acted for Morgan Stanley and Unicredit on a €833m bond issue. It also advised Hungarian oil and gas giant MOL on a complex bond programme. Csilla Andrékó heads the practice.

Horváth & Partners DLA Piper is appreciated for its ‘perfect service’. The firm’s nine-fee-earner team advised local company CIG Insurance on financing and capital structuring matters. Managing partner András Posztl leads the practice. Head of litigation András Nemescsói is advising the CFO and former CEO of major Hungarian energy company PannErgy Nyrt in a case involving insider dealing.

The team at Lakatos, Köves and Partners has a good relationship with various major banks in Europe. It has been busy advising Citigroup Global Markets Inc on a sovereign notes issue, and has also been advising a consortium of banks including BNP Paribas and UBS. Péter Köves and Gábor Felsen jointly lead the team.

Morley Allen & Overy Iroda is known for its work for large international banks, and excels in debt capital markets.

Edward Keller leads the capital markets team at Réczicza White & Case LLP. It has been busy handling issues for Invitel Holdings A/S and its various subsidiaries, which included advising the private equity firm Mid Europa Partners on acquiring a 65% stake in Invitel from TDC for $1.1bn. Other clients include a major energy efficiency company.

Capital markets is a core practice area for Siegler Law Office/Weil, Gotshal & Manges, with Konrád Siegler at the helm. It maintains a good relationship with Hungarian oil and gas giant MOL Nyrt, and has advised it on a range of issues including takeover defences. It has also acted for ING Bank and Magyar Telekom.

The team at CMS Cameron McKenna LLP boasts 11 fee-earners and advises major banks including Credit Agricole on private bond issues. Other clients include OTP Mortgage Bank. Erika Papp heads up the practice.

Erös Üqyvédi Iroda / Squire Sanders & Dempsey (US) LLP is known for its advice on private equity and real estate investment funds.

Capital markets is a key area for Law Office of Gárdos, Füredi, Mosonyi, Tomori. It provides guidance on the licensing of capital markets firms.

Gide Loyrette Nouel’s team is now led by Gabor Felsen. The firm advised ORCO Property Group, a Luxembourg-based property investment company, on its share listing on the Budapest Stock Exchange.

Kajtár Takács Hegymegi-Barakonyi Baker & McKenzie is increasingly focused on regulatory matters; recent clients include a major US bank.

Noerr & Partners Law Office advises on matters including private bond placements and general capital markets issues related to acquisitions. The team works with Hungarian municipalities and international asset management companies.

Practice head Mihály Barcza at Oppenheim advised Goldman Sachs Europe as well as assisting Porsche Bank on regulatory issues. Citibank is another recent client on the regulatory side.

The team at Partos & Noblet in co-operation with Hogan Lovells International LLP, led by Laszlo Partos, has an active IPO practice, with recent work including the listing of Hungarian software company Kulcs-Soft. Barclays and BNP Paribas are also clients.

    Government Emergency Ordinance no. 58 (the “Ordinance”) for the amendment and completion of Law no. 571/2003 regarding the Fiscal Code (the “Fiscal Code”) and other fiscal-financial measures was published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I no. 431 of June 28, 2010. The Ordinance shall enter into force on July 1, 2010.
