Edmond Chan and Rico Chan head up the team at Baker McKenzie. Recent work includes advising Silk Road Fund on the $1.2bn sale of two Florentia Village retail projects in Wuqing and Shanghai, and of a future pipeline project to a newly established fund. The team has also assisted Excel Partners China Fund on a $175m term loan facility secured by a complex package, mainly consisting of the mortgage of the Excel Centre, a Grade A office building on Beijing financial street.

Clifford Chance's team is part of a regional real estate, gaming and lodging practice. Recent work includes advising the arrangers, led by Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, on the acquisition financing arrangements of SGX-listed company Global Logistic Properties, Asia's largest warehouse operator and real estate funds manager. Clara Tang is singled out; Cherry Chan has retired. Chelsfield Group, Grosvenor and HSBC also instruct the team.

Keith Cheung heads up the team at Mayer Brown JSM , which recently advised a consortium led by Gaw Capital Partners in the HK$23bn acquisition of 17 commercial properties in Hong Kong from Link REIT, including shopping malls located in Kowloon and the New Territories. Alan Yip is recommended as 'dynamic, knowledgeable, with strong business acumen’. Fun Kuen Au and Robert Lynn are both singled out. Andrew MacGeoch departed for Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP. Clients include Swire Properties, Sun Hung Kai Properties and SEA Holdings.

Possessing ‚Äėoutstanding technical knowledge and market experience‚Äô, Lilian Chiang¬†heads up the team¬†at Deacons. Clients include MTR Corporation, Kowloon‚ÄďCanton Railway Corporation, Jardine Group and Wheelock Properties. The¬†team recently¬†advised¬†Wharf on¬†the spin-off of¬†subsidiary¬†Wharf REIC¬†for its‚ÄĮseparate listing on the Hong Kong stock exchange.¬†Chiang also acted for¬†K11 Concepts¬†as landlord in the pre-leasing of a large-scale mixed-use development in Kowloon's Tsim Sha Tsui district, comprising prime retail and office space.

Susheela Rivers¬†heads up the team at DLA Piper, possessing ‚Äėbrilliant subject matter expertise in structuring transactions and negotiations‚Äô. It advised a fund managed by TH Real Estate on its acquisition of a series of Florentia Village designer outlet malls. Cross-border work included advice to¬†a European real estate investment and asset manager on its co-investment into a fund (alongside Gaw Capital Partners, Goldman Sachs and Great Wall), which has acquired 16 properties in Hong Kong.¬†Senior associate Janice Yau Garton¬†is¬†‚Äėintelligent, diligent and responsive‚Äô, ‚Äėher advice is solid and she is very quick to grasp issues‚Äô. Clients also include Deutsche Bank and McDonald‚Äôs.

Siu Ngor Chow and Hayden Flinn lead the team at King & Wood Mallesons. Recent work includes acting for Asian View Development in the pre-sale of residential units of a development in the New Territories, as well as advising Long Ping Property Development on the sale of residential units at The Spectra development. It regularly assists the Urban Renewal Authority in its capacity as vendor with real estate transactions.

Dennis Li heads up the team at Slaughter and May, which fields a significant corporate real estate practice, handling transactions in the PRC, including foreign direct investment matters, joint ventures and financing transactions. The team has particular experience in relation to joint ventures, acquisitions and disposals of real estate by real estate investment fund houses in Hong Kong and China. Peter Brien and Lisa Chung are additional key contacts in the Hong Kong office.

Local firm Woo Kwan Lee & Lo is known for its extensive conveyancing practice, working across the real estate spectrum, from land development and redevelopment projects to sale and purchase of residential, industrial and commercial buildings and applications for sale and lease consents. Jointly with the London office, it acted for CC Land Holdings, a Hong Kong-based listed property company, on its ¬£1.5bn acquisition of 122 Leadenhall Street, London's tallest tower, from a joint venture between British Land and Oxford Properties; the team handled the Hong Kong corporate and regulatory aspects. David Blumenfeld heads up the team at Paul Hastings LLP, which counts The Carlyle Group and Goldman Sachs among its clients. Recent work includes advising a joint venture between Chinese private equity firm CDH Investments and business park developer Tec Park Development Holdings on the $300m sale of the Xingchuang Technique Plaza project, a Class A industrial office building located in the Shanghai free trade zone, to D&J Industrial.

It has extensive experience in acquisitions and disposals, private equity and institutional investments, limited recourse and secured financings, REITs, asset and property management, leasing, and sale-leasebacks.
