The Georgian economy experienced considerable growth in the first eight months of 2017, around a 4.7% growth according to the IMF. One sector in particular that is prospering is tourism, with more than six million people visiting the country during the first ten months of 2017 according to the National Tourism Administration.

Consequently, investment in real estate and hospitality has increased, while other key sectors include energy and manufacturing. Georgia, situated between Europe and Asia, is also a logistics hub.

Georgia is increasingly attractive to investors largely due to the development of affordable electricity, the protection given to minority investors and the ease of resolving insolvency. Furthermore, 2017 was the year Georgia adopted the Estonian Tax Model, which encourages investment through its competitive corporation tax rate and lack of double taxation on dividends.

The legal market predominantly consists of local practices but two international law firms, as well as professional services firms, have a presence in Tbilisi. DLA Piper no longer has a presence in Georgia and its former team has transferred to Dentons Georgia LLC. MG Law Office is also present in the country.

The following ranking coverage is divided by practice area for the first time this year.
