Hamilton’s corporate and commercial head Christoffer Hamilton, works in the London office on an occasional basis. The firm uses its London presence to advise UK companies and law firms on Swedish law, focusing particularly on financial services issues.
Kromann Reumert’s small London office advises on Danish and UK law. It has recently acted on several leveraged finance deals, as well as advising venture capital firms and private equity investors in Danish M&A transactions. Office head Jakob Hans Johansen, a corporate lawyer, is set return to Denmark in September 2012, to be replaced by William Kanta, who is experienced in the shipping sector.
LOGOS legal services’ 15-strong London team comprises a mixture of UK and Icelandic lawyers. Its expertise includes corporate, media, financial services, restructuring and international litigation. Gudmundur Oddsson heads the office.
Advokatfirmaet Thommessen AS’ London office focuses on M&A and capital markets. The team works closely with the firm’s two Norwegian offices and also with other independent international practices, through the firm’s membership of Lex Mundi. Resident partner Lars Eirik Gåseide Røsås is supported by associate Christian Hals.
Wikborg Rein has a team of four partners in London, supported by 11 associates. Shipping specialist Joe McGladdery - joined from Qatar Gas Transport Company in January 2012, while Simon Tatham has left the practice. Shipping partner Finn Bjørnstad heads the office. The team also advises on offshore contracts and litigation.

Supreme Court provides guidance on forum conveniens and piercing the corporate veil

This article considers the Supreme Court decision in VTB Capital plc v Nutritek International Corp & or s [2013]. Perhaps the most striking aspect of the case is that it casts doubt on the notion that the Court has the power to pierce the corporate veil. The Supreme Court also held that, even if the power to pierce the corporate veil does exist, it does not enable a claimant to hold parties that control a company jointly and severally liable under contracts entered into by that company.
