Borenius’ ‘good value for money’ practice acted for OP Corporate Bank on financing the acquisition of Wise Group Finland by funds managed by Intera Partners. Niina Nuottimäki advised Bank of America Merrill Lynch on the financing of a property portfolio acquired by Tristan Capital. Practice head Andrei Agaminov is a key contact. Johannes Ahti left the firm to join Roschier.

Castrén & Snellman advised YIT Corporation, Etera Mutual Pension Insurance, Fennia Mutual Insurance and Onvest on the €300m financing arrangements with several banks for the construction of a shopping centre. Practice head Tero Tuomisto led the advice to Nordea Bank on the financing of CapMan’s acquisition of Forenom. Pekka Lehtinen is a key contact.

With an understanding of the ‘business side of transactions, as well as market trends and standards’, the practice at Hannes Snellman is ‘exceptional value for money’. It acted for Hartwall Capital on the financing arrangements for its acquisition of Suez Suomi. Practice head Markus Bremer has ‘good in-depth knowledge’ and is a key contact along with Henrik Mattson. Nordea Bank and Finavia are also clients.

The Krogerus team offers ‘good response times’ and ‘value for money’. It was instructed by HSH Nordbank on the financing of European Energy’s four wind turbines. In another highlight, practice head Päivi Toivari acted for Nordea Bank, OP Corporate Bank, Svenska Enskilda Banken, Svenska Handelsbanken and Danske Bank on a €470m credit facility to Antilooppi. With ‘excellent international experience’, Kimmo Mettälä is a key contact.

For banking and finance, Roschier is ‘definitely one of the top law firms’. The practice advised Konecranes on its €1.5bn financing of the acquisition of part of Terex Corporation’s operations. It has the ‘distinct advantage of a wide experience in infrastructure projects’ and was instructed by TeliaSonera Finland on the lease financing for the construction of a data centre. Gunnar Westerlund leads the team, which includes Helena Viita and the recently hired Johannes Ahti from Borenius.

The ‘excellent’ practice at White & Case LLP acted for Munksjö on the €760m financing of its combination with Ahlstrom Corporation. Practice head Tanja Törnkvist advised Antilooppi on the €470m facilities agreement with Nordea Bank Finland, OP Corporate Bank, Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, Danske Bank and Svenska Handelsbanken. Timo Airisto is recommended for real estate finance.

For ‘timely’ advice, Avance Attorneys Ltd’s practice is ‘more flexible than large, older firms’. It represented Sagax in the secured real estate financing of €40m from Swedbank and €8.5m from Danske Bank. Practice head Sari Wallgren advised TH Real Estate on the financing of its acquisition of a 50% stake in the Kamppi Shopping Centre.

The ‘proactive team’ at Dittmar & Indrenius advised CapMan on the financing of its acquisition of Forenom. The ‘responsive, and experiencedJuha-Pekka Mutanen, who jointly heads the practice with Kari Lautjärvi, acted for HSBC on the refinancing of a loan facility to Blancco Group. Hanna-Mari Manninen made partner in January 2017.

Waselius & Wist’s practice has ‘great knowledge of Finnish law and the implications for cross-border transactions’. It served as Finnish counsel to Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and UBS on the refinancing of Nomad Foods, which comprised two loans of €500m and $610m. Lauri Peltola is the practice head and Tarja Wist is ‘particularly outstanding’.

DLA Piper’s banking and finance practice was instructed by Nordea Bank on arranging a €184m loan for a ferry construction project. Mikko Ojala heads the team, which welcomed counsel Mikko Luukkonen from Bird & Bird. HSBC, Finnvera and RBS are some of its clients.

Eversheds Asianajotoimisto Oy / Eversheds Attorneys Ltd (a member of Eversheds Sutherland)’s integrated M&A and finance practice, which includes managing partner Harri Tolppanen, was appointed administrator in the restructuring of Tecnotree Corporation, which had debts of €75m. It recently hired Juha Taipale and Merja Blankenstein, who joined from Magnusson and Merilampi Attorneys Ltd respectively.

The ‘technically excellent and practical’ team at HPP Attorneysacts both as a legal and strategic adviser’. It assisted Terrafame Group and its subsidiary with the multifaceted €250m funding arrangements to enhance the productivity of the subsidiary’s mining activities. Practice head Björn Nykvist led advice to the European Investment Bank on the Finnish aspects of its €15m facility to Nosto Solutions.

The team at Bird & Bird assisted NREP with the financing of the acquisition, development and refinancing of various real estate funds. It also advised Elisa Corporation on the renewal of its €1bn medium-term notes programme. Senior counsel Kristiina Lehvilä leads the team, which includes Jori Taipale.

The banking and finance practice at Merilampi Attorneys Ltd acts for Citibank on regulatory and corporate lending matters and has expertise in real estate financing. Tommi Elo heads the team, which also advises Nordea Bank and Posti Corporation.

Procopé & Hornborg has expertise acting for clients on the financing of projects within the energy sector. It also advises on high-value loan agreements. Ismo Hentula is a key contact.
