Ellex is advising the Republic of Estonia on the Rail Baltica project, particularly on issues pertaining to spatial planning and the route of the project. Toomas Vaher heads the practice, which also recently assisted Viking Lines with the regulation of its package tour services. JĂŒri Raidla and Jaanus Ikla are also recommended.

Kaupo Lepasepp heads the 'very dynamic' shipping and transport practice at Sorainen, which recently represented Lux Express Estonia and Eesti Buss in a precedent-setting dispute with the Estonian Road Administration. Other key matters include representing Transiidikeskuse in disputing an abuse of dominant position by the Port of Tallinn. Carri Ginter and senior associate Cathriin Torop, who 'has demonstrated remarkable skills in shipping and maritime matters', are also recommended.

Senior associate Martti Peetsalu heads the shipping practice at TGS Baltic, which recently advised several municipal public transport centres on the implementation of the government's free public transport policy. The firm also represents pharmaceutical manufacturer Kevelt in a cross-border dispute pertaining to damages caused during the transport of goods. Other clients include Hellman Worldwide Logistics, Operail and Tallink Group.

At Derling Primus, Piret Blankin leads the firm's advice to environmental NGO ARB on its involvement in determining the route of the Rail Baltica project. Rolan Jankelevitsh recently advised Kantauro on the sale of Transiidikeskuse, and also acts for Fort Aero on a variety of issues. The Viru-Nigula municipality is another key client for the firm.

Eversheds Sutherland Ots & Co recently advised Ekogaisma Estonia on the international transport of lamp waste for recycling. Toomas PikamĂ€e heads the practice, which also acts for clients including Turkish Airlines and Atko Bussiliinid. Maivi Ots and Risto RĂŒĂŒtel are also noted for their work in this area.

FORT is assisting Samat in challenging the Republic of Estonia's decision to offer free bus rides for all passengers on public buses. Kuldar-Jaan Torokoff heads the practice, with Jaana NÔgisto and Rene Frolov also noted. Other work includes acting for Alfons Hakans in an investigation by the Estonian Competition Authority into alleged excessive pricing of its towage services.

TARK recently advised Nordica on the leasing, and subsequent subleasing, of a commercial aircraft. Marit Savi recently led the firm's advice to Eesti Raudtee on the expansion of the Estonian railway system. Newly promoted partner Tanel KĂŒĂŒn heads the practice, which also acts for clients including DSV Transport, CRH Group, and Transiidikeskuse, which the firm recently represented in a union dispute.

LEXTAL recently represented Nelgeron in two large cross-border transport disputes. The 'very strong' practice, notable for its 'excellent knowledge', is led by Olavi-JĂŒri Luik and Alar Urm. Other key clients for the firm include Logitrans, Split Logistic, and Ferroline Group, which the firm recently acted for in several cases pertaining to carrier liability.

Managing partner Indrek Nuut heads boutique firm Malsco Law Office, which focuses on shipping but also acts for clients on more general transport matters.

Timo Kullerkupp and Tarmo Peterson head RASK Attorneys-at-Law's shipping and transport practice, which 'impresses with its skills and knowledge'. The firm has recently been engaged in drafting documents for the Port of PÀrnu, as well as representing the company in a dispute over the arrest of a foreign vessel. Gea Vendel is noted for her experience in transport-related procurement disputes.
