Cartwright King’s personal immigration practice houses solicitors Rita Kotecha and Andrea Muckley, who assist individuals with matters such as visa applications, nationality and citizenship queries, appeals, bails and judicial review proceedings. Paragon Law is best known for assisting UK companies planning to employ foreign nationals and acting for foreign companies and individuals seeking to settle, invest or trade in the UK. Outward immigration advice for India and China is also a strength, in addition to asylum and human rights work and cases of deportation and detention. Browne Jacobson LLP is recommended for a range of employment-related immigration matters. On the contentious side, the group represents applicants against allegations of illegal working filed by the Home Office. It represents vulnerable clients such as trafficking or torture victims in detention-related matters, handles judicial review applications and proceedings, and assists individuals with appeals and higher court cases. The team also acts for unaccompanied asylum seeking children in asylum fast-track cases. Sangita Shah represented an individual in a First Tier Tribunal asylum appeal involving issues of misleading the Home Office, and assisted a family member of an EEA national with the application for permanent residence, complicated by previous non-disclosure of an unspent conviction. The firm also acted for a victim of torture from Cameroon in judicial review proceedings challenging unlawful detention, and managed an asylum application for an inter-faith married couple. Kaajal Chandrasingh joined the Royal College of Nursing as an immigration solicitor.

The team at Shoosmiths LLP is ‘exceptionally responsive’ and ‘willing to hand-hold to whatever degree is required’.
