Having ‘a strong knowledge of the insurance industry’, Bech-Bruun covers all non-contentious insurance and reinsurance matters, as well as litigation and mediation. ‘Preferred partner’ Anne Buhl Bjelke and Jes Anker Mikkelsen have been representing the accountants in two professional indemnity lawsuits regarding the collapse of Eik Banki. Henrik Valdorf-Hansen leads the practice.

Gorrissen Federspiel has ‘immense firepower’ in the insurance space. ‘Insightful’ practice head Henriette Gernaa has been defending Deloitte in a number of high-value professional negligence claims brought by bankruptcy estates, creditors and investors against the auditors following OW Bunker’s collapse in 2014. The team includes marine insurance head Peter Appel and Lotte Eskesen, who is a Denmark and Germany-qualified lawyer.

‘Top firm’ Kennedys handles all areas of insurance law, including corporate liability, product liability, professional indemnity and personal injury. Morten Erritzøe Christensen has been representing three insurers regarding the collapse of OW Bunker. Allan Kvist-Kristensen, Jesper Ravn and Thomas Dall Jensen are names to note.

Kromann Reumert handles a broad range of matters, including pensions, life and non-life insurance. Practice head Jens Rostock-Jensen represented If P&C Insurance in a claim valued at DKK200m before the Supreme Court regarding a design error in the construction of the foundations of 1,700 wind turbines. The team includes marine and cargo insurance expert Henrik Thal Jantzen and M&A partner Jens Steen Jensen.

‘One of the most experienced teams’ in Denmark, DLA Piper Denmark primarily handles litigation and arbitration matters. Practice co-head Georg Lett led the team in defending Ernst & Young in a case brought before the High Court of Eastern Denmark regarding the client’s potential liability in Roskilde Bank’s collapse. Fellow co-head Pernille Sølling specialises in product liability and personal injury law.

Plesner’s ‘very experienced’ group routinely represents insurers and pension funds, covering product liability, professional indemnity and commercial liability. ‘Highly respected’ practice head Torben Bondrop has been defending DePuy in a number of product liability claims by Danish hospitals and patients following an international recall of surgical hip implants. The team includes Søren Vagner Nielsen and Charlotte Hasseriis Iversen.

Andersen Partners acts for insurance providers, businesses and public authorities in all aspects of insurance and tort law. Group head Ulrik Christrup represented Danish train operator DSB in a personal injury compensation case before the Supreme Court.

Horten gives ‘solid advice’ under the leadership of Jacob Møller Dirksen, who is ‘extremely well versed in arbitration’. Dirksen has been representing Zurich Insurance in a number of disputes arising from a fire during the construction of the Experimentarium Science Center. Finn Schwarz and associate Christina Steen are also recommended.

Headed by Jesper Hjetting, Lundgrens primarily handles professional liability and life insurance matters. Michael Amstrup has been representing Dahlberg Assurance Brokers in a DKK275m negligence case following the collapse of Danish bank Løkken Sparekasse.

Lundsgaard & Partnere ‘always provides sound advice’ and covers a broad range of insurance matters. ‘Brilliant’ practice head Søren Lundsgaard and Arianne Svardal-Stelmer have been defending a former boardmember in a DKK1bn liability case brought before the District Court of Lyngby regarding the collapse of Amagerbanken. Clients also recommend the ‘very skilled’ Lotte Noer.

Nielsen Nørager’s insurance group is led by Michael Wiisbye, who counts major insurance companies such as Alka, Codan and Topdanmark among his clients. The team includes commercial partner Jan Presfeldt.
