Bech-Bruun runs the gamut of banking and finance work for a client roster including Danske Bank and Nordea Bank. Practice head Morten Krogsgaard specialises in international finance law; he recently assisted Advent International with the financing of its acquisition of Færch Plast and advised HSBC as local counsel on its financing of Ineos’ acquisition of Dong E&P. Thomas Thordal Sevelsted is also a key name to note; he recently acted for Strawberry Fields on a facilities agreement with lender Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB) for the purpose of refinancing properties in Denmark and Sweden.

Gorrissen Federspiel¬†has 'a strong team in the banking and finance sector', which is 'pragmatic' and¬†'very solution focused'. Michael Steen Jensen¬†leads the practice and recently advised¬†√ėstjydsk Bank on its bankruptcy and the related transferral of its assets and liabilities excluding subordinated capital to Sparekassen Vendsyssel.¬†Morten Nybom Bethe¬†is an expert in regulatory issues and Tobias Linde¬†is notably strong in lending and acquisition finance work.

Kromann Reumert handles the full spectrum of banking and finance work, and is particularly prominent in acquisition, structured and project financings. Jakob Bernhoft is a key figure in the group and has expertise in acquisition financings and debt restructurings; he advised Nykredit Bank and Nordea Bank on their joint financing of Axcel’s purchase of a majority stake in Mountain Top Industries. Recent highlights include Hansen advising¬†Cr√©dit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank and Deutsche Bank on the financing of a number of facilities for Copenhagen Airport, and Valerius acting for Danske Bank and Nordea Bank on the debt and mortgage financing of the redevelopment of¬†R√łnne Harbour. Rasmus Mand√łe Jensen¬†works on acquisition financings for private equity houses and is 'a very strong leveraged finance lawyer', who 'has great commercial understanding' and is 'a solid negotiator'.¬†J√łrgen Permin left to start his own advisory firm.

Clients praise Accura Advokatpartnerselskab for its 'personal', 'professional' and 'solution-focused' approach. Kim Toftgaard jointly heads up the team with Mads Kjellerup Dambæk; Toftgaard is singled out as 'extremely skilled' and 'very commercially oriented' with particular strength property financing matters, and Dambæk is an expert in financing transactions and regulatory advice.

Bruun & Hjejle has a strong record in banking and finance transactions, particularly matters involving institutional direct lending where the team has 'a superior understanding of the regulatory framework and market'. Thomas Skjellerup has expertise in acquisition, project and structured financing work, and recently advised ATP, PFA Pension and PKA on the collective debt arrangements for the DKK40bn financing of their takeover of TDC. Jakob Echwald Sevel  is 'very capable and efficient' and 'always uses a common-sense and practical approach to negotiations'; he assisted Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners with its £250m refinancing of two biomass power plants in the UK. DLA Piper Denmark¬†is singled out for its 'availability and responsiveness', 'ability to work¬†internationally' and 'cohesiveness as a team'. Henrik Sj√łrslev¬†heads up the practice and has extensive experience in restructuring mandates,¬†Joachim Kundert Jensen¬†is an expert in acquisition financings,¬†Ian Tokley¬†is noted for his work on structured financings, and¬†Ulrich Hejle¬†handles acquisition and real estate financing matters. In a recent highlight, Jensen advised¬†Visma on the refinancing of its facilities agreement with a syndicate of lenders.

Horten's expertise in the field includes acquisition, real estate and project finance work; restructurings and regulatory issues, and practice head¬†Claus Bennetsen¬†is particularly active in cross-border transactions. Recent work includes Bennetsen advising a consortium of banks on the $41.4bn financing of TDC's acquisition by¬†Macquarie, ATP, PFA Pension and PKA, and¬†Lars L√ľneborg¬†assisting Carlsberg Byen with the structuring of the financing for its $10bn urban development of the former site of the Carlsberg brewery.

Carsted Rosenberg LLP¬†fields 'a small practice that provides a very personal service' thanks to 'very good expertise and industry knowledge'. Practice head Michael Carsted Rosenberg¬†'works quickly and efficiently' and provides 'clear¬†and¬†concise' advice; he recently acted as local counsel for¬†UniCredit Bank on the provision of a ‚ā¨5m senior credit facility to the Romanian subsidiary of a Danish investment group for the acquisition of farmland in Romania.¬†Andreas Tamasauskas¬†is also noteworthy and has expertise in acquisition, real estate and project finance matters.

Restructuring expert Kristian Gustav Andersson leads the department at Lundgrens, which is highly skilled in structured finance and real estate finance work, securitisations and private equity fund issues; clients include PKA, Saxo Bank and Realkredit Danmark. Lars Kjær is an expert in acquisition and real estate financings, and recently advised Blackstone on its cross-border post-acquisition financing of a logistics and warehouse portfolio. Clients also praise private equity expert Christian Bredtoft Guldmann, who has 'very good commercial understanding'; he recently acted for Lærernes Pension on its investment into Copenhagen Infrastructure III, a renewable energy-focused fund.

Regulatory advice, debt offerings, and acquisition and asset finance work are the three key pillars of Moalem Weitemeyer Bendtsen's practice, which counts Danske Bank, Saxo Bank and UBS as clients.¬†Lennart Meyer √ėstenfjeld¬†leads the team and is particularly strong in acquisition financing matters; he recently acted for Polaris Private Equity on its refinancing through a corporate bond issuance. Legal Developments in Denmark for Banking and finance

  • EUR 1.4 million deposit as security for damages was not increased

    If a company defending an injunction application requests a higher amount as security than that fixed by the enforcement court, it is a matter for the High Court. This principle was recently established by the Copenhagen Maritime and Commercial Court.
