The nine-partner banking and finance team at ‘one of the most reputable law firms in Denmark’, Bech-Bruun, ‘always meets the client’s expectations’. It is regularly involved in internationally focused acquisition finance and syndicated loans as well as asset financing and leasing, refinancing, structured products, derivatives and project financing. Thomas Thordal Sevelsted advised Dankse Bank on the financing of the acquisition of the LESSOR Group through an Axcel managed fund. Under the leadership of renowned practice head Morten Krogsgaard, the group assisted a bank syndicate with the financing of Sampo’s compulsory takeover offer to Topdanmark. Lars Kjær is now with Lundgrens.

Gorrissen Federspiel’s banking and finance department is highly recommended for its ‘professional work’ and delivers it ‘at the right time and at a competitive price’. The nine-partner team is best known for its expertise in bond issuance, restructuring of financial institutions, loan transactions and regulatory work. Department lead Michael Steen Jensen assisted Danske Bank with the issuance of $750m in perpetual non-cumulative resettable additional tier 1 convertible capital notes, while Morten Nybom Bethe advised SEB on an acquisition facility related to the acquisition of the Ellab group through Industri Kapital. Other notable clients are Citigroup, Nykredit and JP Morgan.

With an excellent reputation for its ‘high-quality’ work, Kromann Reumert represents Danish and international banks, financial institutions, PE funds and corporates including Jyske Bank, Credit Suisse and Nordea Bank. Recent mandates involved the team, led by Jakob Bernhoft, advising NKT on the financing of the ABB HV Cables acquisition, as well as assisting Danske Bank and Realkredit Denmark with the financing of the Nordic McDonalds Franchise acquisition through Guy Hands. Kim Rasmussen is recommended for his experience in structured finance and debt capital markets. Recently promoted Andreas Hallas increases the number of partners in the team to 14.

Responsive, commercial and very easy to work with’ is how one client describes the banking and finance department at Plesner. The group, jointly led by Thomas Maaberg Hansen, Søren Thyssen Valerius and the ‘outstanding and very knowledgeable’ Jørgen Permin, assisted Danske Bank and Nykredit with the financing of 3i’s public takeover bid for Boconcept. ‘Very skilled’ Rasmus Mandøe Jensen advised Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley on the granting of two margin loans to Advent and Bain Capital in relation to the Nasdaq Copenhagen listing of Nets. The client roster also includes Nordea, EQT, Dancia Pension, BlackRock and Goldman Sachs.

Accura Advokatpartnerselskaboutpaces other law firms with its commercial understanding, response times and strength of the team’. Renowned Kim Toftgaard heads the two partner team that is best known for acquisition finance, bond issuance, real estate finance and regulatory work. A recent highlight was advising an investor group, including Nykredit, AP Pension and Arbejdernes Landsbank, on the takeover of Vestjysk Bank. The team was strengthened by the hire of ‘outstanding’ Mads Kjellerup Dambæk from Danske Bank after the departure of former practice head Thomas Skjellerup to Bruun & Hjejle.

Bruun & Hjejle’s ‘very good’ banking and finance group is noted for its ‘good response time, strong industry knowledge and advice’. Boosted through the arrival of ‘top finance lawyerThomas Skjellerup from Accura Advokatpartnerselskab, the now four-partner team assisted Nordea and Nykredit with the financing of the SFK Leblanc, Attec Danmark, Carometec and Itec acquisition by Axcel. Other highlights include the advice on a bond issuance by Jacob Holm and acting on behalf of Udviklingsselskabet Enghave Brygge in a real estate development financing agreement with Danish pension funds. Ulrik Kloss Fenneberg is recommended.

Cross-border financing transactions, international loan agreements, corporate bond issuances, and financial litigation are the mainstays of DLA Piper Denmark’s team. Recent work examples are debt restructuring for Hydratech Industries; assisting Collector Bank with a mezzanine facility to two real estate investors; and advising SEV on securing its €230m financing agreement from US private placement of bonds. Notable clients include Nordea, Nykredit, DiBa Bank and PFA Pension. The 11-partner team is led by Finn Overgaard and includes Joachim Kundert Jensen, Hans Madsen and project finance expert Lene Lange.

Expert in banking and financeClaus Bennetsen leads the practice at Horten which has particular strengths in acquisition financing, real estate and project financing, regulatory work, and financial litigation. Recent highlights were the advice of Ardagh on several bond issuances related to the purchase of business parts of Ball and Rexam, and assisting the MBL Group with the sale of shares and loan financing. Key clients include Carlsberg Byen, ING Bank and RBS. Lars Lüneborg is a name to note.

Kammeradvokaten / Poul Schmith’s two-partner practice leverages its experience in advising public entities, such as the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority, to expand its scope to banks, financial institutions, PE funds and corporate clients. With the hire of practice head Henrik Kure from Gorrissen Federspiel in July 2016, the department gained significant expertise in acquisition finance. Notable work includes assisting a Danish credit mortgage bank with the acquisition of real estate in a distressed debt scenario.

Lundgrens is ‘strongly recommended for cross border work’ and represents a number of national and international financial entities such as Nordea, Danske Bank, PFA Pension and Deutsche Bank. Recent mandates include acting on behalf of BRFkredit in connection with its €750m Eurobond issuance. Ian Tokley has ‘a deep knowledge of international and domestic capital markets’, while Kristian Gustav Andersson is experienced in debt restructuring. The team recently welcomed Lars Kjær from Bech-Bruun. Andreas Tamasauskas left the firm.

Moalem Weitemeyer Bendtsen’s banking and finance practice is best known for acquisition and asset finance, debt offerings and regulatory work. The four-partner team, led by Lennart Meyer Østenfjeld, assisted EQT with the acquisition financing of a Danish internet infrastructure company; advised Polaris on the refinancing of a Danish transportation company through a corporate bond issue; and acted on behalf of JOOL Capital Partners in a mortgage-backed bond issue for Golf Hotel Læsø. Other clients are Saxo Bank and Sydbank.

Co-headed by Kim Høibye and Ulrich Hejle, Njord Law Firm’s banking and finance department regularly acts for Danish and international entities including Nykredit, AP Pension, SEB and Jyske Bank. The four-partner team is best known for its expertise in cross-border investments, asset management and fund structuring. It advises Nordea Realkredit on foreclosure and real estate financing; and assisted BlackRock with the outsourcing of the investment and asset management activities of a pension fund.

  • EUR 1.4 million deposit as security for damages was not increased

    If a company defending an injunction application requests a higher amount as security than that fixed by the enforcement court, it is a matter for the High Court. This principle was recently established by the Copenhagen Maritime and Commercial Court.
