Allen & Overy’s team delivers a ‘smooth service’ and stands out for its ‘strong negotiation skills’. It advised Asahi Group Holdings on its €7.3bn acquisition of SABMiller’s operations in the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania from Anheuser-Busch InBev. Recently promoted partner Prokop Verner, who heads the team, ‘understands the commercial objectives’ and is ‘an efficient, goal-orientated leader’. He is supported by ‘a highly experienced core team of associates’; senior associate Magda Pokorná is singled out.

The ‘brilliantly knowledgeable’, ‘pragmatic’ team at Baker & McKenzie s.r.o., advokátní kancelář stands out for its cross-border reach, and advised Nord Anglia Education on its acquisition of Prague British School. Other highlights included advising Amundi on its acquisition of Pioneer Investments. Tomáš Skoumal, tax specialist Pavel Fekar, Alexandr César and senior associates Michal Matějka and Petra Jilgová-Benešová are recommended.

Clifford Chance regularly handles complex, cross-border M&A. Highlights included advising consortium member Italian Gaming Holding on a €770m bid for a lottery concession in Italy, and advising Fortuna Entertainment on regulatory and compliance issues relating to its acquisition of Hattrick Sports Group. Office managing partner Alex Cook heads the M&A team. David Koláček is also recommended.

Kinstellar’s team provides ‘timely’ advice and is noted for its ability to handle cross-border and domestic instructions. Jan Juroška and group head Lukáš Ševčík advised Trelleborg on its over €1.1bn acquisition of a leading supplier of specialty tyres and engineered polymer solutions. Juroška and real estate partner Klára Štěpánková advised GIC on the Bulgarian, Czech, Romanian, Serbian and Slovak law aspects of its €2.4bn acquisition of P3 Logistics Parks. Kamil Blažek, Jitka Logesová and senior associate Jan Pfeffer are also noted.

Kocián Šolc Balaštík handles a wide range of M&A transactions. It advised Hexpol on its acquisition of Trelleborg Material & Mixing Lesina from the Trelleborg Group. It also advised Cercl Green on its disposal of Green Gas International to ML Green Netherlands. Dagmar Dubecká heads the M&A group, Petr Kasík heads the corporate team and Martin Šolc has ‘a great reputation’. Martin Kubík, Jan Dědič and recently promoted partner Christian Blatchford are also noted.

The ‘experienced’ practice at Weil, Gotshal & Manges s.r.o. advokátní kancelář handles a range of complex, multi-jurisdictional M&A. Highlights included advising ČEZ on its contemplated €151m sale of a Czech coal-fired power plant to Czech Coal Group, and advising Unipetrol on the €757m merger of its refineries into Unipetrol RPA. Petr Severa, Karel Drevinek, Roman Janeček and Vladimír Kykal are key members of the practice, which is headed by Karel Muzikar.

Headline work for BBH advokátska kancelária, s.r.o. included advising Anheuser-Busch InBev on the sale of Czech brewery Plzeňský Prazdroj, and acting for J&T Finance Group on the sale of a 26% share owned by Biques and a 35% share owned by Milees to Energetický a průmyslový holding. Team head Kateřina Winterling Vorlíčková and Tomáš Sedláček are recommended.

CMSstrikes a good balance between being technical and commercial’, and advised Mid Europa Partners on its sale of AeskuLab and Alpha Medical in the Czech Republic and Slovakia to Unilabs. It also acted for AIG on the Central European aspects of the $240m sale of several of its insurance operations to Fairfax Financial Holdings. Lukáš Janíček is ‘effective in negotiations and resolving issues’, while managing partner Helen Rodwell and senior associate Frances Gerrard are ‘incredibly commercial, pragmatic and responsive’. Patrik Przyhoda is also recommended.

Glatzová & Co., s.r.o. provides ‘tailor-made solutions’; highlights included advising Denemo Media on its acquisition of a 50% shareholding in FTV Prima from MTG Broadcasting. Jiří Sixta, Jindřich Král and Martin Dančišin, who has ‘a big-picture perspective’, are recommended. Senior associate Jan Veselý ‘is able to absorb pressure and convert it into an effective solution’. Vladimíra Glatzová heads the team.

Headline work for PRK Partners includes advising SABMiller on the Czech and Slovak aspects of the €7.3bn sale of its CEE businesses, including Czech brewery Plzeňský Prazdroj and Slovak brewery Pivovary Topvar, to Asahi Group. Martin Kříž and Radan Kubr head the team. Roman Pečenka is also recommended.

Schoenherr Czech Republic handles cross-border transactions for clients focusing on the CEE and South East Europe (SEE) regions. Vladimír Čížek acted for AG Foods and Coöperatief Avallon on the settlement of a minority shareholders’ dispute and on a management buy-out. Čížek also advised on the Czech aspects of Groupe SEB’s acquisition of WMF Group. Martin Kubánek and Zoltán Pálinkás are additional names to note.

Squire Patton Boggs s.r.o., advokátní kancelář handles a range of private equity deals and is experienced in real estate, IT and healthcare transactions. Radek Janeček led advice for Dandreet Private Equity on a €20m share buy-back programme, and Jeffrey McGehee advised Walton Street Capital on its sale of the BH Centrum complex in Prague to Aventicum Capital.

The ‘proactive’ team at Weinhold Legal has ‘acommercial approach’. Department head Daniel Weinhold advised CEFC China Energy on its acquisition of Development Florentinum, and Ondřej Havránek advised Bohemia Sekt on the sale of its liquor business to Stock Plzeň. Martin Lukáš is also recommended.

White & Case (Europe) LLPgoes the extra mile in terms of quality’. In a multi-departmental mandate, the team advised Avast Software on its $1.3bn purchase of AVG Technologies. The team also advised P3 Logistics Parks and TPG Real Estate on the €2.4bn sale of P3 to GIC. Jan Andruško is ‘a great organiser’ and Jan Pařík, who was recently promoted to partner, is noted for tax matters. Jan Stejskal, who was promoted to partner in 2018, is also recommended. Petr Pánek heads the team.

Wolf Theiss regularly handles cross-border mandates and advised Lukoil Lubricants on a complex restructuring in which a Finnish subsidiary merged with an Austrian one. The ‘excellent’ Jan Myška and counsel Jan Kotous head the team.

The team of ‘good communicators’ at bnt attorneys-at-law handles domestic and cross-border mandates, and is particularly strong on German law. It advises Gaudlitz on various legal matters concerning its Czech subsidiary. Pavel Pravda and Jan Šafránek are recommended.

DLA Piper Czech Republic LLP’s ‘quality team’ advised US-based cloud computing company Mirantis on its €23m acquisition of TCP Cloud, a Czech start-up. It is also advising Aperam on its potential sale of Aperam Stainless France. Miroslav Dubovský and Jakub Adam head the team.

Dentons regularly handles cross-border mandates; the ‘brilliantChris Watkinson worked alongside colleagues in the Budapest office in advising Group Spadel on the €120m acquisition of a 93% stake in Devin from Advent International. Counsel Jan Procházka, who jointly heads the team with Tomáš Bílek, advised China-Central and Eastern Europe Investment Cooperation Fund and CEE Equity Partners on the acquisition of three solar power plant operators.

Key matters for the team at Dvořák Hager & Partners include advising Algotech on its purchase of a share in Hugport, and advising Pebal on the sale of a 50% stake to a new investor. Stanislav Dvořák, Stanislav Servus and Lukáš Zahrádka head the team. Veronika Odrobinová is also recommended.

At Havel & Partners s.r.o., attorneys at law, Václav Audes advised HP Tronic Genesis on its €25m acquisition of an 80% share in Datart International, and Jan Koval advised Ondrášovka Holding on its €8m acquisition of Karlovarská Korunní. Marek Lošan, Jaroslav Havel and recently promoted partner Jan Frey, who has ‘exceptional negotiation skills’, are also recommended.

Key work for Noerr s.r.o. includes advising Allianz Real Estate on a €500m joint venture with real estate developer VGP and assisting dnata with its acquisition of Air Dispatch. Barbara Kusak heads the team; senior associate Petr Hrncir is ‘responsive and practical’.

Novalia stands out for its ‘innovative’ approach and ‘international outlook’. Highlights included advising Altran on its acquisition of Swell from Genesis Private Equity Fund II. The ‘very professionalIva Javorská joined from Randa Havel Legal in 2017. Pavel Marc is ‘excellent and pragmatic’; Ondřej Mánek and Jakub Císař are also recommended.

Noted for its ‘quick response times’, Peterka & Partners advised NKT Cables on the sale of its automotive cable business to a subsidiary of Wilms Group. Adela Krbcova, Ondrej Dusek and Premysl Marek are recommended.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal s.r.o., advokátní kancelář advised Imados on the merger of a subsidiary company with its parent company. Lucky Money is another client. Bořivoj Líbal heads the team.

Randa Havel Legal advised Klima on its sale to a Czech private fund, and advised Bronswerk Heat Transfer Holding on the sale of its Czech subsidiary to PBS Industry. Pražské služby Blackstone and Adexpres.com are also clients. Alois Šatava heads the team. Iva Javorská left to join Novalia in 2017.

bpv Braun Partners s.r.o. delivers advice ‘very quickly’, and acted for SSE Holding on its acquisition of Orica’s European explosives business. Arthur Braun heads the team and David Vosol and Pavel Vincík are other key figures. Gabriela Porupková joined in 2017 from Schoenherr Czech Republic.

Balcar, Polanský & Spol is experienced in real estate transactions, and advised Skanska Reality on its purchase of eight hectares of land for the development of a housing project in Prague. Radim Polanský is the team head.

The ‘strong’ team at Bányaiová Vožehová, s.r.o., law office acts for Vinci on a range of matters. Energo-Pro is also a key client. Team head Lucie Vožehová has ‘good negotiation skills’ and ‘a good business approach’.

Bird & Bird s.r.o. advokátní kancelář advised OneProve on its establishment of a limited liability company, and on venture capital investment provided by STRV. It has also been providing Labio with corporate restructuring advice. Ivan Sagál and counsel Martin Špička head the team.

The ‘excellent’ team at CHSH Kalis & Partners s.r.o. advised Wipac on its €3m acquisition of a Czech company specialising in manufacturing vehicle lights, and advised Confal on the acquisition of a Czech manufacturer of automotive components. Martin Kartner and team head Petr Kališ are noted.

JŠK, advokátní kancelář, s.r.o.combines deep commercial insight with knowledge of local and international jurisdictions’. It advised Colas on its sale of construction companies Čermák a Hrachovec and Prakan to Ceha Investment. Corporate head Tomáš Doležil, who ‘understands the commercial needs of a client’, Roman Kramařík and of counsel Nick Johnson are also recommended. Senior associate Janka Brezániová is ‘very focused and thorough’.
