Boyanov & Co advises pharmaceutical clients on the contentious and non-contentious aspects of their operations in Bulgaria, including regulatory and IP matters, as well as handling corporate and commercial work. The group successfully defended Sanofi in a cross-border dispute with a Bulgarian distributer. Kina Chuturkova and Peter Petrov jointly head the team. Nedyalka Novakova has significant experience in pharmaceutical regulatory issues.

At Dimitrov, Petrov & Co, ‘diligent’ practice head Zoya Todorova, Bilyana Stefanova and Martin Zahariev have ‘excellent knowledge of healthcare law and regulations’. The firm advises Pfizer Luxembourg and Johnson & Johnson on all local compliance and operational matters. The group is also representing DiagCor Bioscience in a dispute with a Bulgarian distributor.

Djingov, Gouginski, Kyutchukov & Velichkov produces ‘consistently high-quality work’. The group is advising Baxalta on the local aspects of its $32bn integration with Shire. The firm also assists AbbVie, and other pharmaceutical companies, with their IP portfolios, as well as advising on local pharmaceutical regulations, corporate and commercial matters. Tsvetkova Bebov Komarevski’s group advises pharmaceutical companies, healthcare providers and food producers on all aspects of relevant Bulgarian law, including assistance with local regulations, IP portfolios, corporate and commercial matters. Ilya Komarevski leads the team. Elina Ruseva is another key contact. Other clients include AstraZeneca and Takeda.

Andrey Delchev and Partners - Eurolex Bulgaria’s team advised on a €46m modernisation project for Uni Hospital and assisted the Bulgarian subsidiaries of Gedeon Richter with entering the Bulgarian market. Evgenia Mihailova is the main contact.

Arsov Natchev Ganeva advises a number of healthcare and veterinary institutions on the local regulatory environment; in one recent highlight it assisted Intervet Bulgaria, a subsidiary of Merck Animal Health, with contractual agreements with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. CMS handles commercial, corporate and M&A matters for various international healthcare and pharmaceutical corporates. Angelika Sedlackova is ‘a true life sciences expert who provides excellent client service and very valuable guidance’. Georgiev, Todorov & Co’s clients include Bulgaria’s largest hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies. The group assists Roche Bulgaria with competition and regulatory work. It is also advising Rompharm on the transfer of technology and IP, required for the manufacture of a medicament, from a Russian company in a multijurisdictional transaction. Kinstellar advises Teva Pharmaceutical Industries on all aspects of its activities in Bulgaria, and Shire on local healthcare legislation and regulations. Svilen Issaev leads the team.
