THE LEGAL 500 > EVENTS > GC Powerlist: Iberia Teams - Spain
The Legal 500’s GC Powerlist Iberia is now in its second year, and this year, our focus was on the in-house teams. The new Powerlist was launched in Madrid on 1st June on the rooftop of the Casino de Madrid. We were delighted to welcome over 160 in-house counsel from the Powerlist to enjoy an evening of networking and informal sharing of ideas. We were delighted to have the Spanish Minister of Justice, Rafael Català address the audience. He spoke at length to the Powerlist about the evolution of the legal industry in Spain and in particular, how the Ministry of Justice is facilitating and improving the justice system to streamline the access to justice for citizens. Clearly a popular figure in the legal industry, the queue of people to speak to him and have photos with him was lengthy!
Publishing Director of The Legal 500, David Burgess, kicked off the event with a speech praising the collaborative nature of the in-house teams, and urging them to keep pushing for earlier access to deals and strategic plans within their businesses, to cement themselves as a key business group that will enhance the decision making process. Jaime Olleros, from our Spanish headline sponsor, Andersen Tax & Legal, talked about the role of the in-house and how they are facing a legal framework in constant change with growing complexity, which forces them to assume greater responsibilities. He also praised the close collaboration between in-house lawyers and law firms. To see the Spanish coverage in El Confidencial, click here

“It was so well organised. Ministry presence was something outstanding for you to achieve. Networking was fantastic for us, and the other in-house teams we met were wonderful people.”
